Need help in re-downloading from Financial Institution ...

I downloaded transactions from my financial institution. There was a problem and I need to redo it. But when I try it I get the error:

OL-96-A "There are no new transactions available ..."

Somewhere in Quicken it has this financial institution last update set to 11/30/05 and it needs to be reset to 10/31/05.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks,

Brooks

I don't think it's Quicken setting the last date updated, it's your financial institution. With my bank, the solution is easy: just ask for transactions of a specific date range. There's no problem if the range is too large, as Quicken will ignore duplicates.

Hopefully your bank has an option to download specific dates.

Fred,

Thanks for the post.

Actually, its not a bank, its a broker.

I have a physical QFX with the transactions for the month. Quicken refuses to process them. Somewhere, internally, Q thinks it is up to date as of 11/30/05 and refuses to process any transactions with a date before then.

Any other ideas?

QW does seem to 'remember' thru some internal system of record keeping.

One approach you could try to get around your temporary problem;

Deactivate your present account for download. Set up a new temporary brokerage account. Download/import the QFX file to the temp acct. Cut/Paste transactions to original account - one at a time [unfortunately]. Deactivate temp acct for download and delete the account. Will then have to go thru reactivate original account on next download.

Actually, "refuses" is probably the wrong word. In the QEL Quicken has a record of all transactions applied to each account. It is based on the transaction Identifier found in the QFX data for each transaction. Based on that, Quicken rightly declines to process the same transaction twice.

You have a choice of evils:

  1. Delete the QEL and lose the processed transaction history (plus a few other bits and pieces) for all of your accounts enable for online transaction downloading.
  2. Edit the QFX file and alter the transaction idientifiers in such a way that they are different from what are already processed and also different from what you might download in the future.
