Nice scam isn't it! You buy a buggy Quicken program for a decent price but if you want to make it work you pay them fore than you paid for the original software for support they should be providing free!!
Maybe the next upgrade should be to MS Money. I've been seeing some good press on that lately!
If they gave ignorant jerks like you free support, people that weren't so ingorant would have to pay your way. It is you who is advocating the scam. PLEASE, by all means, move to Money.
I'm certainly not agreeing with the guy, but why, when people like him insult Intuit/Quicken, do your panties get so twisted?
You're one of the most helpful/knowlegeable contributors to this newsgroup, but responses, like your latest, make you look as bad as the jerks that you're arguing with.
My my John. It seems we're a little testy tonight :(
Many good companies provide free email support for instances which are not covered in their standard help and FAQ's. I think that makes for a good customer relations experience. It seems you're advocating that companies should cater only to the computer experts who need no help?
There are Quicken user forums, which are supported both by Intuit employees and some of us who have used the program for years. Before you go off on a rant about there being no email support, why don't you ask what type of support is available? Frankly I think John was right on with his response.
Sorry, I don't have a master list of all software companies and the support techniques they use; I have no idea what percentage of companies provide "free" support (see below). But the fact that some do does not support your over-the-top claim that Intuit is engaged in a scam.
I have no idea how you got that from my words.
There is no such thing as "free" support; never has been, never will be. Support will always be paid for, the only questions are how, and more importantly, by whom.
What is known as "free" support is paid for by every purchasor of the product, its cost is built into the product cost. That means that the users who utilize the free support are subsidized by those who don't (those who use it more are subsidized by those who use it less).
When support is paid for by the user needing the support; the cost is borne by the person who receives the benefit.
The advocates of "free" support are the ones proposing a scam because they want others to pay for their support.
What I'm "advocating" is that each person pay his or her own way.
