Online update setup

I am using Quicken Deluxe 2005.

When I went to "One Step Update" to try it, I noticed that under "Quicken.com" at the bottom "Update my banking accounts on Quicken" is checked by default.

Of course I do not want to do that! I have never used the One Step Update before so I am new to it. Although I could uncheck it before updating I am concerned that if I use the One Step Update I might accidentally forget to do so in the future. How do I remove this default permanently?

Thanks.

If you clear the check mark - does it 'stick'?

If not, take a look at

EDIT > PREFERENCES > CUSTOMIZE ONLINE UPDATES

Scroll thru and set your preferences.

That is precisely the problem! When I go to EDIT > PREFERENCES > CUSTOMIZE ONLINE UPDATES and open the Accounts tab, I make sure that no account is selected. When I exit I get an error box that says: "You've enabled Bank Account Sync, but have not selected any accounts. Would you like to select accounts now? Yes / No "

I say no of course but when I return again the same thing happens!

In the same "Accounts Tab", there is a box titled "Update Options" which has a checked box saying "Resend all items to Quicken.com". However it is grayed out and I have no way to uncheck it and can find nothing relevant elsewhere within CUSTOMIZE ONLINE UPDATES.

Help contains no topic on "Bank Account Sync" so I do not know how to turn that off. Editing my accounts shows nothing about sending anything to Quicken.com.

I am sure this was not there before but I am now afraid to go online in case things get sent to Quicken.com.

I solved my problem. I went into One Step Update, made sure everything was unchecked and - taking my courage in my hands - I told it to update. Before it actually connected (I am on Dialup, one of its few advantages), I canceled the action. Next time I opened One Step Update, the "Update my banking accounts on Quicken" check box was no longer checked by default. Ooph.

I had never set up any accounts on Quicken.com so I should have been safe, but I just did not want to risk it.
