problem deleting attachement

Q 2006 Dlx on Vista Home Premium

Just recently started adding use of attachements, mostly attacheming a pdf of my pay statements to the deposit transaction. Going back and double checking a few I found a case where I attached the wrong statement to a particular transaction.

Select transaction, then Edit -> Attachments ... -> Delete Attachment "Are you sure you want to delete this attachment?" -> yes "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" -> OK

There are no other apps open, and I even tried restarting the PC to clear any potential unreleased locks.

That did it. Thanks for the tip.

BTW, I take it that when we attach a document, Q is making a copy in its own directories, and we can then move/delete the original? I've tested that and it seems to be the case, but I still worry that somewhere deep in its bowels, Q. still has a pointer back to the original source location.

Ed:

Quicken stores attachments in the Quicken/Attach/[File name] folder. So, you can delete the originals once you've attached.

Uh, make those backslashes Quicken\Attach\[File name]
