Quicken 2006: Can I get a useful tax report?

I switched to Q2006 in the hope that they have updated reports to be more useful. What I need mostly is "vendor" totals for each type of transaction that's relevent to income taxes (the way I report them on my income tax). Something like this would do just fine:

Interest Income

Chase Bank xxx.xx Federal Credit Union xx.xx Schwab Money Market xx.xx

Dividend Income

Franklin Templeton xxx.xx Fidelity xxx.xx Vanguard xxx.xx

ST Capital Gains Income

Franklin Templeton x.xx Vanguard xx.xx

LT Capital Gains Income

Franklin Templeton xxx.xx Fidelity xxx.xx Vanguard xxx.xx Merrill Lynch xxx.xx

Medical Expenses

Dr. Smith xxx.xx Dr. Jones xx.xx

Mortgage Interest Expenses

Chase Bank xxx.xx

Taxes Expenses

Town of Moneygrabbers xxxx.xx State of NY xxxx.xx

etc.

In the case of investments, the totals could either be by account (as I've done in the example) or by investment, or both.

Can anyone suggest where and how I can get such a simple report?

Thanks in advance.

You did not mention whether or not you have looked at QW's tax reports; Tax Summary, Tax Schedule and Capital Gains. These reports typically contain nearly all of the detail required for filing, provided you have the proper categories and tax line assignments.

These reports do not necessarily subtotal to the level you might like. I typically generate additional customized reports for greater detail; e.g., dividends subtotaled by payee, medical by provider, etc. I also find it useful to export the detail to Excel where, using pivot tables, the flexibility is virtually unlimited.

How's about "Itemized Category" sorted by payee with 'Tax-Related Only Transactions" selected for a time frame of last year selected?

Gary - pls. reread my post! Especially the key phrase "... sorted by payee ..." (!). I believe what you want *is* there, and it's NOT the same as the tax reports which, as you noted, don't seem to have the ability to sort by Payee.
