Quicken 2008 & Chase Credit Cards

Sep 12, 2007 10 Replies

Anyone had any problems getting Chase Credit Card Accounts to download correctly in Quicken 2008. It kept giving me errors, so I turned off on-line access to these accounts. When I then tried to re-establish One-Step Update access, it asked for authorization codes for each account - when I said I wanted these, I received emails from Chase with these codes, but when I entered them in Quicken, it still couldn't re-establish One-Step Update. No problems with any other accounts

This doesn't help you except that I can tell you it works fine on mine.

Maybe you did this already, but if not...

Go into your Chase account. Click on Customer Center. At lower right of screen, under Tools, click on Activate Money, Quicken, Etc.

Mitch:

All my Chase downloads failed last week. I finally had to deactivate and reactivate all the accounts.

As far as the authorization codes go, that is only to identify your computer as "trusted" Those codes have nothing to do with your login IDs and passwords.

So I would recommend validating your machine with those codes. Then deactivate and reactivate all your accounts.

Mine did also, but I was able to get them working again by online updating from just the individual account, not using One Step Update.

I've used this to restart Amex accounts when they stop downloading also.

I had problems with Chase CC in Q 2007. My usual fix to these problems is to log on to the CC web site with my browser. I usually find some extra prompt which, after answering, everything works ok in Q again. However, this time I encountered the authorization code problem. Working through the web pages to get a new authorization code didn't fix it. I had to call Chase and they walked me through a different process.

I think Chase broke something on their web site. Wait times to get to their online support operators was very long, and the operators were very adept at walking you through the correction process in about 30 seconds.

I never knew this and always wondered why I couldn't download my Chase Visa transactions.

However, having gone online and activated Quicken via the above instructions, Q06D still says transaction download is not available.

One of the few reasons I decided to go from Q2006 to Q2008. It is really NOT easy to get Chase and Quicken to talk to each other. While I have 5 accounts with Chase, and all requested to be activated in Quicken, one activation and change of password is all that's needed, if you check activate from each account, you get umpteen emails with activation codes, but none seemed to work properly . Now I only have to wait for the next security upgrade to have everything break again ...

Mine was an easy fix... with help from Chase. Seems the FI name on my Quicken account was wrong which automagically doomed the process. Once I got the FI name on the account fixed, it connected just fine.

Now I have to sort out my first statement with this method. The first time is always a charm... or something.

I don't recall having to edit the FI name originally (after the switch to Q2008). Some time later (couple weeks, if that), things stopped working, and I think Chase changed something in their authentication. I suddenly had to ask for an activation code to be sent by email. Now everything seems sorted out, although, as with Citibank, accessing the website directly gives you the latest data before the Quicken server does.
