Quicken 2009 Release 2 available

After applying the update today, for the first time my downloaded transactions matched the scheduled transactions that were already in the register. Have to give Intuit credit for at least getting this one fixed. Now if they would just fix the other bugs, oops that should be non-working features. :)

How do you update Quicken 2009 Deluxe? Q2008 would contact intuit site upon app launch automatically. I can't find way to update Q2009.

Just did that. Quicken requires you to Register. I refuse to register any software. When I hit Cancel, the whole process was aborted. Once intuit has your info, they will spam the hell out of you. Below is their statement -

Did you Register?

This is pure b.s. I have registered every version of Quicken I have owned (nine): if I get more than two, or three, emails from Intuit a year, I'd be surprised.

And I certainly don't object to being informed that Intuit is offering things like: an online version of Quicken, online backup for Quicken, Quicken Property Manager, etc.

Yes, I registered several years ago. And I checked (or UNchecked - sometimes they are checked by default and we must remove the check to "turn OFF the bubble machine") the little boxes that say, "Please don't send me all this junk mail", or words to that effect. If we don't actually read those registration pages and make sure the boxes are checked or not, then we are (probably unintentionally) inviting Intuit to send all that stuff.

But I turned off the junk mail streams several years ago and make sure that I turn them off again each time they are re-offered. So I don't get more than a couple of emails a year from Intuit. And none from third parties that seem to have gotten my address from Intuit.

Registering gets me more than the automatic notification of updates. It also allows me the daily download of stock price quotes and news. It OFFERS me other services, too, most of which I decline. For example, I haven't told Intuit how many shares (if any) that I own of each of the stocks for which I ask for daily quotes; I just ask for quotes without disclosing why I want them. Recently, I have begun carefully accepting other online services, such as downloads of some banking and credit card transactions - but those are MY decisions, not Intuit's.

Hi Andrew,

You need to go through One Step Update. When finished, it will tell you that there is a free Update to your Version available. If you missed it, click on Help and look at the very bottom of Help.

Also, note that you must Register / Reregister Quicken everytime you install Quicken on your computers. Otherwise, One Step Update does not work, without Registration.

The Update process from R1 To R2 places a regini Notepad File on the Desktop. Can it be deleted?

I wonder what you basis about Intuit spam is. I have been registered for years with each and every version and I get zero emails from them or caused by my registration.

Did you Register?

Right. I did it before I started this thread!

I (Andrew) was the one who posted this after the fact. It was 'xyz' that was asking how to do it! Normally, I would have just let your post go without commenting you addressed it to the wrong person, but this gives me the opportunity to ask 'xyz' how his installed fared.

Does intuit use a GUID or something similar to identify the quicken executable file?

I assume this means you're still having problems with the R2 update? I did not do anything "special" other than invoke One Step Update to have it automatically download and apply the fix. I assume you registered the copy of Q2009 and you did a OSU without downloading?

Now there is also a manual way, I think, of obtaining the download and applying it manually. I don't remember how to do that as I don't think I've ever had to. Perhaps someone who knows the correct URL to obtain R2 (if it exists) can assist?
