Quicken 2010 ~ Bonds Sold

Aug 22, 2010 2 Replies

Can anyone offer a rational reason for Quicken not offering a bonds sold before maturity transaction?

In the Quicken help they tell you to use Sell - Shares Sold transaction. No where do they explain accrued interest, they just pass over it like it doesn't exist.

I know how to handle with a little simple math but I'd think that Quicken software would do it for me.

Just ranting ~ disgruntled MS Money user....

Could it be that providing such a transaction wouldn't be economically beneficial to Intuit?

I can't believe you think that Intuit programmers are not capable of providing such a transaction ... as others have pretended.

I don't know of any Quicken user who can not properly account for such a real-world transaction, using the available Quicken transactions.

It's not just that Quicken is not Money ... it's that Quicken is still in business ... and Money is not. Personally, I prefer that Quicken remain in business ... rather than follow whatever model Money followed, then go out of business.

I'm sure the inclusion of a proper bond sale transaction is what forced MS to abandon Money.
