Quicken Basic 2007 crashes

Apr 09, 2007 1 Replies

I downloaded Quicken Basic 2007 back in January. It seems to be very unstable and I am not sure why. It's running on my winxp pc. Seems to crash most often when I am entering a paycheck. Gives me the error report number and closes. The other day it crashed and when I brought it back up it hung with 100% cpu usage when trying to enter a paycheck. It's got the latest r4 update. I de-installed and re-installed with no help. I thought maybe it might be due to a s/w program running on my pc such as norton anti-virus or spybot w/teatimer. BTW, is there a place to search for the error report numbers? Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be or is anyone out there experiencing this?

Mike, I had this happen several times when I used features such as calendar. It would flash(very quickly) an error message and shut down. The fix is to uninstall Quicken after a backup of your data, and reinstall but not to the default location. Also, after the uninstall, remove the existing quicken folder from your hard drive. Now, reinstall NOT to the default directory that it defaults to, but create one yourself, perhaps named Quicken1 or something like that.
