Quicken incompatibility with Norton Password Manager

I am having a problem with Quicken 2006 and norton password manager. I am running Windows XP. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone else reproduce it with their system if they are running Norton Password Manager?

BUG SUMMARY:

When exiting Quicken after performing a one-step update, Quicken will disappear from the screen but by checking the running processes in task manager (the processes tab, NOT the applications tab in taskmanager) it can be seen that Quicken is still loaded in memory.

It will get to the point after running Quicken several times that many instances of Quicken will remain in memory at roughly 30 MB each.

The problem appears to result from an incompatibility with Norton Password Manager. If Norton Password Manager is not running when doing the one step updates, Quicken unloads normally. If Norton Password Manager is running and Quicken is closed after performing a one-step update, qw.exe remains in the running processes list in task manager.

The problem also occurred with Quicken 2005, but at that time I hadn't figured out why.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THIS BUG:

  1. Install Norton Password Manager
  2. Open Quicken and perform a one-step update
  3. Close Quicken
  4. Start the task manager and verify under the "processes" tab that qw.exe is still running. Do steps 1-3 over and over again creates multiple instances of Quicken that do not unload.
  5. With Norton Password Manager not running, Quicken operates normally.

This has been mentioned somewhere before, either here or in the Quicken forums on the Intuit site.

Try Moon Software's Password Agent. I've been using it for years, and upgrades are free. It works great.

BTW, I also use their Backup Magic program. Also inexpensive and very simple to use. It's reliable, too. :-)
