Quicken sellout

I see very few people with my problem .. I began with the DOS version of Quicken many years ago and most of my upgrades have been free, but I have a problem when they say a release of their software will not work anymore .. the nearest I got to an excuse was they want to concentrate on 'future' development and thereby serve us better. Now, every time I touch the mouse I am warned of the impending demise of what I am about to do (download), almost like I'm an illegal alien going to work. I spent some time on the Internet looking for alternatives and the only one seems to be MS Money which is unthinkable, like 'sleeping with the enemy'. I suppose bottom line is does anyone know of something that functionally would be an acceptable alternative? JACL

I did some research on the topic for my wife a bit ago. The best I could find was jGnash on sourceforge.net. Here's a link to the wiki:

There is/was also moneydance and another Quicken-like program. For me the main point in coming back to Quicken every other year or so is that I don't have to re-enter all data. I can leave it as messy as it is. Maybe when I retire in a few years, I'll start a new program freshly.

Obviously, I prefer Quicken to MSMoney. However, comments about "sleeping with the enemy" are adolescent and puerile...common among Mac/penguin users. Inuit, the way they have been acting, are just as much an enemy as Microsloth, even more so, IMHO.
