TurboTax DLX 2005 won't import from Quicken versions prior to 2004

fair warning... another Intuit Gotcha...

The box does state (in micro-print) that imports of data from *Quickbooks* must be version 2004 or higher. Turns out it only imports data from

*Quicken* versions 2004 or higher.

You can still use the workaround of importing data by first creating TXF files from inside Quicken (I did this from Q2003). You have to do this from the Tax Center, or Tax Reports, not from the File menu. Then you can import the TXF file into TTax. This is not as easy as it sounds - you have to do multiple imports (from the sme files), and there's no good summary of what has been imported. The "Remove Imported Data" menu option would work except that the menu runs off the bottom when you have too many entries.

sigh. Just one more nail into the coffin of Quicken versions with QIF support.
