unidentified security

Quicken Deluxe 2014 desktop.

For some time now when I download transactions from my broker, there is one transaction that Quicken always lists as "unidentified security". It always involves the same security. So it is easy to edit, because the security exists in Quicken. But how do I fix it so Quicken recognizes this download instead of "unidentified security"?

On a related topic, when I go to accept downloaded transactions, if I edit the above transaction to correct it, the original downloaded transaction awaiting acceptance remains as it were. So I have to go and delete it so it does not get accepted twice. Can that behavior be changed so when I accept the edited version of the transaction, the original unedited one goes away?

Thanks.

I've seen the "unidentified security" but only when I got a transaction for a new security before Quicken had put it in the security list. I can't re member why the timing got screwed up, but have you checked that it absolute ly exists in Quicken? I have a Preferred stock account and sometimes there are issues of the same stock but at a different yield and Quicken will ini tially think it is the same security, if I don't catch it and force it to m ake it a new one. Sorry I can't be more specific but it's been a while.

On your second topic, I doubt there is a way to make Quicken be smart enoug h to automatically delete the extra transaction, but maybe one of the gurus here has run into this before and has a way.
