Wachovia charging for Q DirectConnect

Just got this notification from Wachovia Effective September 1, 2010, after your initial enrollment free trial period ends, there will be a $5.95 charge per statement cycle to be enrolled in Online Banking with BillPay through Quicken(R), QuickBooks(R), or Microsoft(R) Money. Direct Connect allows you to access account information, pay bills, transfer money, and send secure messages with Wachovia Online Services directly through your financial management software. You can also update information for multiple accounts directly into your software, without downloading files to your computer. Time to switch banks.

Chase charges $9.95 for any Personal Management Software...

even for our free checking account that happens to have a $100k balance..

If I was fortunate enough to have a $100K balance in my checking account, earning .05% apy or less, I don't think that I'd even notice a $9.95 charge. But then of course, I wouldn't keep $100K in my checking account.

Anyone who keeps $100K in a checking account is a FOOL. And anyone who pays a bank that service charge when THAT much is in an account is ALSO a fool.
