Wachovia to Wells Fargo change

I currently download and pay bills from my Wachovia checking account with Quicken 2010. Now that they are changing their name to Wells Fargo, will I have to do anything in Quicken to continue to do what I am used to doing?

They have a transition web page that will help you with that.

Be prepared to pay for using Quicken!

Or call 866-385-8947 and they can tell you where to find the instructions or help you through it.

Not if it was free with Wachovia and you keep the old account type.

We just went through that. The Crown Classic account is no more. There is no WF account that permits you to write a check in the Quicken register, upload it (and download transaction data) and have WF send money to the Payee without your having to pay.

It should be on your bill. Depends on whether you use web connect or something else.

If you convert your Wachovia account to a Wells Fargo account, it is not like any account otherwise available to other WF customers, so the info on their site does not apply. The bill pay through Quicken is still free if it was before. Quicken and Quickbook fees will remain the same, according to the disclosure statement sent to me prior to the conversion.

If, however, you change the account to one of the currently available accounts as found on the WF site, then their usual fees will apply.

My WF statements say "Crown Classic Banking" across the top in large bold letters. Apparently converted accounts are still named this. The account does not appear on the WF web site only because you can't just sign up for it. It has to be a conversion from Wachovia. We have two Crown Classic 50+ accounts and there are no charges on the statement for bill pay via Quicken.

That's not what their rep told me. But I guess it depends on how you define "bill pay".

I just fiished converting here in southwest Florida. The web connect download is free. They charge something to pay bills from within Quicken. However, you can also pay the bills from the Wells Fargo web site free and then dowload into Quicken.

The rep I spoke with last night said that he would see that I incur no charges for paying bills with Quicken. Of course, he could be lying -- he *is* a banker, after all!

He may or may not be lying. Unfortunately in large corporations, it is quite common to get different answers depending on who you speak to. One of the reasons I still do business with a "brick and mortar" bank is that I can march into the branch manager's office and get her to fix problems. She is the one who cares if I move my accounts to the bank down the street.

So far I haven't seen any new WF fees, but if I do, she will be the first one I talk to.

Just checked my account and one of the two charges has been reversed. So far, so good.

Exactly right! My branch manager is a Wachovia veteran and knows very well the problems of the transfer. I've had my account with Wachovia/First Union for over 40 years and if I get charged for using Quicken Bill pay, I am confident that the local branch manager will get it reversed.

I thought you did the same thing I did and got Wells Fargo F customer service to waive the fees (your posted reply July 10, 2011).

See the thread starting July 3, 2011 below. I and other Wells Fargo and former Wachovia customers have contacted customer service and got them to waive both Quicken Direct Connect and Bill Pay fees. .............................................................................................................................................. "I don't remember any of that. I've been defragging my hard drive and got rid of all those lost clusters."

I contacted the software department and was told that the rep's supervisor would take care of it. However, beyond reversing the $9.95 fee, I have seen no evidence of that, so I called the local branch. The service manager is supposed to look into it and call me back.
