"Flickering Screen"

I am running Quicken Deluxe 2011 on Microsoft 7.

In the last few weeks a new problem of the screen "flickering" as if rapidly reloading, cutting out and reloading, as if it were trying to decide between opposing views. This is most common in the "reports" section and in" transactions". Sometimes the problem stops after 5 -

10 seconds and at other times I have to hit "ctrl alt del" and find the program is not responding. At times it is so severe that I have had to turn off the computer and re boot. Quicken help says to "uncheck the 'turn on animation' box in startup." This provided a modest improvement. Am I alone in this? It is obviously the result of some up grade because I have been running this 2011 model for over a year.

I've had this problem on and off through the years with Quicken. It has been attributed to video drivers, and mouse drivers. If you've changed either, that would be the area to look.

I have been unable to download transactions from Wells Fargo and reconcile my checking account within Quicken 2011 for approximately 4 weeks now. Initially I was receiving error code CC-800 and later I started getting an error code CC-501. The error has now become "Duplicate Category Name. Try Another Name."

I tried the online support feature at Quicken and was asked to upload my CONN log and my OFX log which I did. The "chat" person was going to escalate my problem to the "online research team" and they would get back to me. Several days later I received an email from Quicken that basically said get screwed .... it's a Wells Fargo issue.

I finally got in touch with someone at Wells Fargo that informed me that Wells Fargo had changed their password requirements from all numeric's to requiring a combination alpha/numeric password. I made that change while on the phone with this guy and successfully downloaded my checks. I thought I had the problem resolved until the following weekend when I tried to download my checks again. Guess what? Back to the same issue. OK, no problem I'll just call Quicken again. This time around I talked to a different assistant and once she determined my password was OK she basically said screw you man this is a Quicken problem and you need to call them. By the way, they are only open Monday through Friday, etc, etc, etc. Have a nice day.

I think part of my problem was maybe the old password was still stored in the password vault but I deleted the password vault and rebuilt it and it didn't help. The other part of the problem relates to my having a Wells Fargo checking account for years and years and when I retired I placed my retirement funds with an outfit called A. G. Edwards which became Wachovia which became Wells Fargo. Now I've got all these accounts at WELLS FARGO and I think Quicken can't handle it. Of course the operator is an old man that grew up in the DOS age and can't handle Vista too well but that's another story.

Has anyone been down this road before? What's the answer?

The system follows:

HP Pavilion Elite M9000T Windows Vista 32 Bit

4GB DDR2-667Mhz dual channel SDRAM4X1024 256MBNVVIDIAGEFORCE6400GS,DV-1,TV-OUTHDMI 320GB sata hd ETC, ETC, ETC (hope this is enough info about rig)

Regards,

Pat

Probably not relevant, but Wells Farge has a 16 (I think) character limit on passwords. The web interface just truncates everything silently, but if you think your password is longer, Quicken will fail to connect.
