sorry, but the intuit website is confusing to me. i presently use q2006 basic, and it has all the capabilities i need. i download from bank accounts, credit cards, stock and mutual fund prices.
that's all i need - can i get by with the beginner or deluxe version ? i'm hoping the premier is just excess junk i don't need ...

The deluxe should do all you need. If you decide to upgrade later you can do so, it's a very simple process.

As XS11E said, go with Deluxe. That's what I did since they don't offer Basic anymore.
DO NOT get the Starter Edition! It is only for first-time users of Quicken and it won't import your prior years' data - or anything else.
