there is nothing to start.
It is a card with a chip that uses signatures for authorisation, but not a chip & sig card.

They've been telling my wife the same about her Capital one C+Sig card. Not true. They also told me once - I straightened them out. However I note the plastic pads that are there to sign on seem to be going away at supermarkets (what about cheques?).
I also updated Lloyds bank and my Mother (who is registered blind, but can just about sign), since neither had heard about C+Sig. Pitiful.
There's an article in today's FT criticising the banks for lack of publicity about this, and especially the reluctance to issue chip+sig cards.
