Acessing plastic credit

Sep 22, 2003 6 Replies

I have 2 credit cards, one a Halifax the other an egg one. The former came with a cheque book in the event of wanting to 'spend cash' up to the credit limit. The egg one does not have this facility. I know that I can withdraw cash in small daily (?) amounts on it, but how might I get the three grand credit on that card should I temporarily need it in a hurry?

TIA, Harold

Go into any bank that handles Visa cards and ask for a cash advance on the card. You should be able to get any amount up to your credit limit. It would be worth taking some additional form of identification with you if you want to take a large amount of cash.

Thanks, but is this only transferring to an egg current account? Tried using 'tranfer balance' but wouldn't work for me -- it seems to want to transfer credit from another credit card to the egg one.

Harold

Thank you -- that seems easy enough.

Select "Balance transfers" and then click the "overdraft" button. It then prompts you for details of the bank account you want to transfer to. It took 3 days for the money to appear in my account at HSBC.

Thanks -- did a test transfer, it works!
