credit card applicaction criteria: phone line

At least one credit card, like the Paypal card

say that they require applicants to have a registered landline. Does that kind of rule me out if I'm using SkypeIn (VOIP)? I assume that the phone number I 'rent' from Skype is probably registered in their name. If that is the case, do other credit cards require you to have a phone line in your name (haven't seen others that require this) or at least your house? Can that give me problems if I wanna apply? Even if they don't require it, having a land line telephone number often gives you extra points in your credit score.

If you give them an 01 or 02 number, I don't think there is anything they can do to check what type of line it is, other than ask you for a copy of the bill.

If you have skype then how do you connect without a "landline" to provide your ISP connection?

I use cable (NTL)--I guess people who share a broadband connection could have a similar setup.
