It doesn't. It says -£4.05.
Where is all this information from? I'm guessing it's not from an actual full statement, because then there would be enough detail to make everything clear. Was it a mini-statement from a cash machine?
Presumably the minus sign means the balance is in credit. This could be as a result of your having paid too much off your previous month's bill by mistake, or of someone having given you a refund.
I would guess that the two new payments have been authorised but not yet charged, so they have reduced the available credit but not yet reduced the current balance.
Could you have accidentally copied down the two £12.08 figures wrong, and they're really £14.08? Then it would add up like this:
£80.18 + £9.79 makes £89.97. Then deduct £4.05 to give £85.92, and this will be the new balance once the authorised payments are in fact charged. This would leave you £14.08 short of your £100 limit.
Thanks for the reply, it was a copy&past of what shows up on my online account.
I did over pay by 2.05p as I forgot about the 2 that Tesco home shopping takes to autorise the card! Oh well, least they can't say I'm not paying my bill each month.
