I have been out today buying food and clothing for our children. Being a silly bugger I have just checked my telephone banking and realised I dont have the funds to cover the cheques I have wrote. This wasnt done on purpose but I was assured my tax credits would be in today and went out spending on essentials. I telehoned only to find that they hadnt gone in again. I have an overdraft of 850 which will now stand at aprox 1500. I have bought clothing food paid bills etc What will happen to me as I know they wont extend the OD. Please help urgently I am sooo sorried. Thanks Jason

Basically, you have 3-4 business days (about a week in real life) to get the funds in. Phone Tax Credit line ASAP.

Just been in touch with the Tax Credits and they have made several attempts to pay me but there is problems paying. Apparently their computers are having problems with my account number? Anyway it could be a few more weeks before I get enough funds in to clear these cheques. What do I do? I have called the bank this am stating I have wrote several cheques without the funds in and they said they will charge me 20 per cheque. Are they likely to take action in court against me for writing cheques without sufficient funds? My silly fault all this I should have checked before I used the cheques but stupidly I trusted Tax Credits to pay me on time.
