Re: Internet Banking & possible fraud

It's a difficult situation. Ideally you want a copy of the processed cheque which the solicitor can obtain from their bank. This will help trace where the money went.

I was in a similar situation when I mailed some cheques to the UK from New Zealand. They all went through ok, except for a foreign currency one. Abbey National denied ever receiving the foreign currency cheque. By some miracle, it eventually arrived back at my New Zealand address, posted by Abbey National with just 19p postage on it. The cheque issuer would have helped had this not been the case.

The solicitor should have had enough experience of banks to know that c*ck-ups happen. Keep pestering them.

I have recently received a large cheque from my solicitor made payable to > myself, drawn on Barclays Bank. The cheque was posted to ING Direct bank, to > be credited to my account. The cheque has been presented and cleared, but > not into my account. ING Direct say they have not received the cheque, > Barclays will only talk to the account holder (the solicitor), the solicitor > is very slow and does not seem that interested.
