'The' rock and a 'the' hard place

No, lets not say that. Lets say you`ve spent 10 hours actually trying to resolve this situation (if you`ve spent more time then I fail to see how - a few letters followed by a small claims form being filled in) then you claim your time is worth 200 an hour. The people that I know who earn 200 an hour are certainly capable of either resolving this situation a lot more quickly than you seem to be able to, , or would walk away with the belief that it`s not worth spending (lets say) 10 hours working to get money back that they could earn in 45 minutes.

So would you like to explain exactly why you think your time is so incredibly valuable, while you are unable to resolve the situation?

Depends on what area he works in, I suppose. He could be very proficient in his work but have little idea how to deal with this sort of thing. It's quite possible he earns 200 an hour.

The people I know who can regularly earn 200 an hour are certainly competent enough in the real world to have either delt with this quickly, or realised that it`s not worth wasting days of your life for a sum of money that you can replace in 45 minutes work anyway. :-)

OK - should've read:

Think twice before you transfer balance on your credit card - if you buy something with Card A - transfer the balance to Card B and close Card A - return the item due to a fault - they refund Card A (which no longer exists) - You've lost you money into the ether they call 'electronic banking', never to be seen by you again - albeit the banks will have plenty of bubbly at the share-holders meeting

That'll teach me to be more pedantic in future so nothing is left open to interpretation

i earn more than 200 an hour as a sessional lecturer- and no i dont lecture on economics or finance

it's not worth 10 minutes of my time - i've just said that

"It's now a matter of principle and not one of money"

i think you were to eager to hear yourself that you forgot to 'read' my reply

It's still incorrect though. Either the money has been credited to the account which is cancelled rather than closed, or the payment will be returned to the payer.

Why? Any possible issue has absolutely nothing to do with **transferring the balance**.

It is *only* to do with *closing* the card...

Does that include all your preparation time for the lectures?

Do you get 200ph while preparing, *plus*

200ph while delivering the lectures?

I bet he doesn't earn 200ph for the job of: "solving this sort of problem"!!

More likely to be 200 an hour for the lecturing, so a much lower rate when you take into account preperation time.

And i`m not sad enough to be spending Christmas online. I`m sending a load of files over the network to the XBox, so I`m killing time :-)

Exactly my thoughts!

I wonder how much a travelling salesman could say they earned per hour, if they only counted the time of their visits (not travelling time), or how much firemen would earn per hour if you just counted the time battling fires etc etc.

The problem is, the one part of the job cannot be done without the other parts, so the seemingly high pay rates are really meaningless!

I once got given 50 for litterally a 5 minute job - so I could say that I earnt 600 an hour. It took an hour to get to the place and an hour to get back, which reduces the rate somewhat, but I agree with your point exactly. Hell, in my current job I might only do an hours "real" work in a day, sometimes less. But that "real" work is mixed in with lots of other stuff that is essential for the job, if you see what I mean.

My experience with the coop suggests that if they got the money, you will get the money. I closed an egg card 2 years ago, it recieved a credit in October, I rang egg and they said "the card is showing a positive balance" and credited it to my bank account.

Cards dont go away
