Travel Insurance Recommendations?

I can't recommend one but suggest that in the light of the recent cancellations due to volcanic ash, where some insurers paid out and some didn't, the terms and conditions are pretty important. Arguably, the price less so.

IMO insurance recommendations are only meaningful if the recommender has had to claim, otherwise who knows whether the insurer will pay up when it comes to the crunch? It's worth reading the posts by 'FH Brit' on this thread - apparently he works in the billing department for a hospital in Orlando, so finds out which insurers pay up promptly and which try to wriggle out of claims.

Have you used these before? I read the policy details and it seems that you can pay an additional premium to have no excess to pay - but I cannot see how to add that on. Any ideas?

TBH, I'm not sure of the value of that - unless people have experience of claiming from multiple policies, most direct personal experience only consists of paying the premium.

I just tap up the comparison engines each year. Couldn't tell you who this year's is with offhand, despite it being only a fortnight since taking it out...

I use them for travel throughout Europe. I opted for no luggage and costs about £20 a year.

They could not have been more helpful regarding the recent volcanic ash. They texted, wrote and emailed me regarding a possible claim.
