We own a small business and "Quickbooks professional services 2006 " was recommended to us. The price tag is steep. The accounting computer does not have Internet access. Is the verification, if any, via Internet?

Not to my knowledge. BUT you will need to download updates, patches and tax tables... that *does* require an internet connection.
