$1,500.00 LOST?

I have PCCharge, for 36 hours RMS did not communicate with the PCCharge program. I have the signed receipts with only the last 4 digets of the account numbers, does RMS save the account info anywhere? Does anyone have an idea why the 2 programs wouldn't have communicated? I don't want this to happen again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First things that come to mind:

1) PC Charge wasn't open 2) The windows user you logged in as does not have modify rights to the PC Charge folder/share 3) PC Charge wasn't open to the credit card/charge screen - although others will say this isn't required, I've seen it cause RMS to time out while conecting.

How do you know it wasn't communicating? It sounds like you were getting approval codes.

What version of RMS? What verison of PC Charge? What Edition of PC Charge (PRO/Payment Server)? Where is PC Charge installed (Register, back office, server)? How many registers and does this affect all registers?

Hi Glen, I am sure PC Charge was open. I only do 1 user to log in to windows. I don't really understand #3, could you explain how I can be sure the PC Charge program is open to the credit card screen?

I Do Not have auth. codes for these transacti> First things that come to mind:

Re. #3 - PC Charge not open to Charge Screen: You know how Payment Server has several screens that you probably use everyday? Like the End of Day functions and Reports... If you ran reports, and left PC Charge in the Reports Screen, I have seen RMS fail to connect to it. If you click the little charge card icon - the far left button on the button bar, PC Charge opens to the Charge or Credit screen - you could actually enter transaction and card details here and process the card. This is the screen that you want to leave PC Charge open to.

Since you are on RMS 1.3, RMS does not keep the full card information anywhere. In earlier versions you had the option of keeping unmasked card numbers. Try checking with your bank or processor to see if they have any record of the transactions, but you are probably out of luck unless you can contact the customers and get their card numbers.

Was this 3 day time period when you first installed PC Charge, or had you been processing prior to that?

Do you have any Credit Card Tender types in RMS that ARE NOT marked as "Use EDC" on the Validation tab? These would not communicate with PC Charge. Did you by any chance change the EDC Settings on any Tender Types around the time you had this problem? Remember that you have to do a Z-Report before Tender settings will take effect.

The only RMS/PCCharge issues that I have seen have been ones where RMS failed to contact PC Charge and timed out (PC Charge open to the wrong screen), or where PC Charge timed out trying to connect to the card processing service. There used to be an issue in which where transactions could be double charged, but that was addressed many service packs ago. Never seen anything where RMS accepts the transaction without an Auth. number, unless "Use EDC" is unchecked - in fact, I think it wants you to enter one by hand even then.

New West Tech has an add-in called Card Vault that does store card information. I don't know if it works with PC Charge or your processor, but you may want to check them out at
