Problem with RMS-PcCharge integration

I have gone over all the individual elements I could think of, none of which appear to have been changed since my initial installation.

About a month ago, I installed PcCharge and got it going just fine, but didn't use it. Last week, I tested it again just to make sure it would work, having just added a second receipt printer and cash drawer. It worked fine.

The very next day, when my staff went to use it, they did a sample transaction and PcCharge did NOT send back an authorization code. The icon was up, the server was running, and their were NO errors at all, from RMS or PCCharge.

I looked today, and even called an authorized dealer (from whom I purchased the cash drawers and printers) and we walked through all the hooks from RMS.

When I went to PCCharge, I ran a test transaction - perfect. From RMS, it looks like it is running fine, but then you get no auth. and there are no transactions within PCCharge.

The PC Charge people have no idea what is going on.

I am wide open to all ideas and suggestions. I have NOT yet reinstalled either RMS or PCCharge but that's about all I can think of doing at this point.

What version and release of PC Charge are you using? It needs to be either PRO or Payment Server - I know that version 5.7.1 works fine, but I don't know about earlier versions.

Is PC Charge running at the register, or on a back-office workstation or Server? In either case, the user logged into Windows at the register must have "Modify" rights to the PC Charge folder and it's contents.

PC Charge should be open to the "Sales" screen - I've seen RMS fail to connect to it if PC Charge is left on a different screen such as reports...

I'm not at the store right now, but I can tell you it's the latest version, and it is running on the same machine as I am trying to use it on. I only have two user logins for Windows and both of them have system admin rights.

I'll set it to the sales screen the next time I try to test it. Thanks for that suggestion. I'm amazed that something that runs as a service process could be that critical as to what the input screen is, but you learn something every day.

As I mentioned, this system did work fine a couple of weeks ago, and the ONLY thing I purposeley changed was to install a new printer and cash drawer.

Ah, the contrariness of things....

Bud, Why don't you check and make sure that you have perform verification via EDC checked on tender types for your cards. I know for a fact that you don't need any screens open in pc charge, you just need to be logged in. I forgot to do that and lost a days sales before I realized it wasn't doing an online auth.

IF that doesn't work make sure that you have the pr> I'm not at the store right now, but I can tell you it's the latest version,

I already did check that the other day, and I assure you that verification via EDC is definitely checked for both VISA and MC. I even checked, and when I opened it, PCCharge did come up on the sales form.

Re the "proper user" well, there is only one. When I installed it, I called the first (and only) user, USER1. That won't work, so I called PCCharge, and they set me up with a second authorized user just called 1. As far as I know there isn't any way to actually select a user. If so, please explain.

It worked before now, without me going out of my way to select any particular user. I still wonder what I am missing that it doesn't work now, yet yields no errors.

In that case I am not sure. Could your MID and TID be wrong in RMS? I am grasping at straws at this point.

You don't need to change the user in pccharge. You just needed a user called

  1. I don't use pccharge anymore, as RMS supports Vital, but I never had to open any screens, only start the program.

It doesn't run as a service which is one reason I stopped using it. It is hard enough to train employees to start RMS, much less RMS and PCCharge ;(

If I can th> I already did check that the other day, and I assure you that verification
