Administrator/database password

I've asked our RMS partner multiple times for our database password, but they won't give it to me as they say it is a security risk. All I want to do is run a re-index and maybe 1 query or 2. Does anyone else think they are being unreasonable, I can't understand how accessing my own database is a security risk?

Is there anyway that I can find out the password?

Cheers

Jetspeed,

Yes, you should have your password. What happens if they were to go out of business? Get it now.

If the won't give it to you, there is a routine to change it. If you have access to CustomerSource;

I'm almost positive that you would need to log into Windows as an Administrator for this to work...

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll push them a bit harder now and if they still don't give it to me, I'll threaten them first with changing partners. After that I might have a go at changing the password

I would first offer to sign a release of any security concerns which removes any legal hurdles they might think they have. Then if that doesn't work, threaten to change partners or have your attorney send a letter saying you demand full access to the program and data that you own. They have no right to withhold it from the owner.

NeedHelp,

I won't for 2 reasons.

1) I don't know who you are. You could be a devious employee who wished to create havoc.

2) It would be a disservice to all RMS/POS users who _do_ pay for access to the CustomerSource website. Why should you be excused or reap the benefits while not purchasing it?. Contact Microsoft Business Solutions and they will be glad to renew your support plan or charge you for a support call. (888) 477-7877
