Can I block the sales of an item that is a kit? I don't want to delete the item because I will need the history, but I have a new item I want to substitute that is an Assembly. I have changed the Kit item properties to "Block the sales of this item" but my testing is not blocking it.

Rick, A kit is really just an item, so you can go to the Options tab and check the Item is Inactive option. Further you could setup the Block Sales options for the item to ensure it cannot be rung up at the POS.
I did check the box, but I am still able to ring up the kit using POS. Is there something else that needs to happen? I Z'ed-out the register and rebooted thinking maybe there was another necessary step. Even with the box checked (and no date range selected) to "Block the sales of this item," I can ring up the kit.
