Connection error during credit card processing

Jul 30, 2010 1 Replies

Interesting problem:

-Internet is wokring fine on all three of our registers.

-All non credit card transactions working fine on all three registers.

-Credit card transactions working fine on two of the registers, but the third register gets connection error when we try to process credit cards.

-Odd thing is that the one register that doesn't work for credit cards is the computer that houses our database. The other two registers are networked to the database on that computer.

-We've rebooted everything, power cycled the modem, restarted RMS on all computers.

-The only thing these computers are used for is POS. There are no icons to reach the internet - only way to get there is through Windows Update. So unlikely to be a virus.

-Haven't run any windows updates on these computers for about three months, so don't think there is an update problem - unless we need to update.

Any suggestions?

Kris, Have you checked the time on the computer with the problem? If it is more than an hour or two off, RMS rejects the transaction, with the odd error of Network Failed (or similar).

Thank you,
