connection error using hook

HI, I have a client who wants to control some stuff in the purchase order so he needs a hook everytime he saves a purchase order. No problem I created a hook with the following parameters: HookType= 9 , Parameter = 5 and then I pass the poID variable. The problem start when I try to manipulate the database. I was used to use the commands embedded with the QSRules but because I can not longer use them because I use the record Id parameters I am trying to use just plain VisualBasic commands to handle this problem. So I define a variable as connection and then i define the following statement : cnErr.Open "PROVIDER=MSDASQL;driver={SQL Server};server=servername;uid=user;pwd=password;databaseÚtabasename;" In that part of my hook I have an error. Does somebody know how to handle database connections in Hooks using parameter = 5. Thnks in advance for your help.

Tell me quick man for what are you using this?? I need the same hook to fire here but have no development knowledge, I need this to block inventory from being transferred when there is no stock on that item?? Is this at all possible???
