Credit Cards

There are two major credit card issues with RMS.

1) True voids - RMS does not send the correct codes to the processor to have the credit card transaction voided. Instead the "void" is processed as a credit. The problem with this, is that now the retailer has put a hold on those funds on the customer's credit card until the transactions are settled. A customer near their limit will not have the funds available for any further shopping. Also, if a client is near or at their limit the merchant may not be able to void a credit as the methodology for offsetting transactions requires approval of the second transaction.

2) Phone Authorization - There is not a way to enter/swipe a credit card, enter in the approval code and have that approval code sent to the bank instead of sending the transaction to be authorized again by the processor. Again, RMS does not send the correct codes to allow for this. SO, if a customer comes in and the cashier needs to call the back to get authorization to proceed with the transaction, once authorization is obtained, the transaction can still not be processed through normally. Also, RMS should allow for the swiping of the credit card even when the authorization code is being entered since the retailer pays less for swiped cards versus hand-keyed cards.

Both of these issues need to be addressed and remedied.

1) There is no code to send for a void . The voided transaction does not get settled at the end of the day and the funds are freed up in 24 hours or thereabouts (standard procedure). The software works properly.

2) If you get an authorization number by phone you are supposed to enter it in RMS with the credit card number and expiration date when tendering the sale. This is called a Force. Forced transactions will settle at the end of the day with all of the other cc transactions. There is no double approval, having an approval code tells RMS that it does not need to go for approval, it just adds it to the batch for settlement at the end of the day.

You can swipe credit cards regardless of needing to enter the approval code. The swipe does not send the info, it just fills in some of the fields.

2.) The key here is to put the approval code in first then arrow back to the cc number. swipe it. Everything else fills in. It also helps with the extra charge for not having all the information from the card.
