Debit Cards and NOT using Citibank

We are in the process of trying to take debit cards and use ICVerify and First Data as our credit card processor. It wasn't until I did a test last night from RMS and researched the message I received that RMS only supports debit cards if you are using the built-in Citibank credit card processing.

Is there anyway around this? If not, is RMS going to remove this restriction at some point?

You should be able to process debit cards by opening ICVerify and processing them directly. You would need to set up your debit card tender type in RMS as "Other". This isn't as smooth as having an integrated solution, but should work ( I keep saying 'should' because I've never used ICVerify ).

As for what MS will do in future versions, all you can do is go to CustomerSource and enter or vote for this in the suggestions area.

Thanks BUT... that really defeats the current integration between ICVerify and RMS. This would mean having to jump to another window (which we really never want our cashiers to do), enter in the sale amount and other data again, process the transaction in ICV, then window back to RMS. This is way too many places for errors to occur.

You're right. RMS only supports debit cards directly through the Citibank/Vital interface. If you want to take Debit but use ICVerify you have to go outside of RMS to do it.

We have exactly the same situation. We are processing CC thru ICverify and First Data fully integrated. We learned that RMS can not process debit cards anything other then Citibank. We tried to work outside RMS to accept debit cards directly using IC verify but have not been able to connect the pinpad

Raj if you get this working let me know - I have the exact same setup and have not had success either.

One other thing you probably want to go ahead and get going is an internet connection. RMS uses internet access. ICVerify with First Data also works via internet connection - they call it a datalink.
