EMS Data Import issues!

Hi there. I have just got a copy of the EMS SQL Data Import wizard to import a catalog of a few thousand items into Store Operations. I tried out the trial version first, importing the first 10 products into the database, and it worked fine, with the new products appearing straight away in SO manager. However, after registering the software I now get the error message "Error - A Share Violation has occurred" when I try to import the same products into the database. Does anyone know how to sort my life out? Cheers in advance.

One more thing I wouldn't mind knowing, although it's not vital: is it possible to import aliases for items into SO using EMS SQL import? That would be handy if anyone knows.

Cheers

As far as the share violation goes, I do not know the solution to that problem. You may want to check out the EMS website. I am pretty sure that the error is not being generated by Store Operations.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but importing aliases would be difficult, if not impossible, with EMS SQL Import. The Alias table uses a foreign key (ItemID) that references the Item table (ID). For these to function properly in store manager, you would have to first identify the item's ID with an SQL statement before assigning an alias.

To set up aliases on our system, I used a simple PHP script that assigned them according to our needs.

Like I mentioned, I am not an expert on EMS SQL Import, so don't necessarily take my word for it.

Alex is right it would be kind of difficult to import Aliases using the EMS tool.

Instead of using EMS to import your aliases you can use the Store Operations Import Utility and just use the Item Lookup Codes.

Store Operations Import Utility? Is this something I already have, or something to buy?

This is something you can get from your RMS Partner or download from the link below. You will need access to CustomerSource in order to download the file.

Cheers, I will follow that up when I get my Customersource account sorted.

In the meantime, I have sorted out the share violation issue - it was because I had the spreadsheet open in excel when I was trying to import it.

Cheers for the help, guys
