Fail to upload this global customer

I wish I could download or that HQ would have come with a Manual. I have this problem and I can't figure out how to fix it. A Local Customer with the same account number xxx-xxx-xxxx already exists at a different store. Fail to upload this global customer. Can someone explain to me how to fix this.

You can change/modify the customer account number at one of the stores, then it will be uploaded.

As a side note, we use the auto generated account numbers for a few reasons:

1) They list the store id in the preamble (we can tell how many new customers are generated by which store) 2) If a customer has the same phone number, there are no worries if that is what is being used as the acct #.

For the user guides, I am pretty sure those are on CustomerSource, just not sure exactly where, you can search the KBs. And your software should have come with an all white manual, might want to see if you can find the box it came in.

Thank you for your fast respond, I am using phone number for the accounts.

CustomerSource I didn't know about it till was about to expire. My POS did came with the white book you are talking about. it does show a bit on how the POS works and RMS but not HQ. :( if it wasn't because of you guys here, I would be throwing the software out the window. Thanks

If you don't have a million customers, at a million stores, you might want to look at the auto generated account number.

Our stores used to use the phone number as account AND as phone - obviously this was terribly redundant and slowed things down. What we started doing with our older stores is start using and converting customers to the auto account. They would remove the phone from the acct #> paste into phone (if not already there)> leave acct # blank> click OK> click OK again to have the number assigned.

If you wanted to see what a sample of what the next auto generated account number would look like, you can go to SO Mgr> File> Config> Accounts tab> this will display both the next auto account, and what the full string would look like. This is where you will see your store ID listed in the preamble of the number.
