Global customer import

Assuming that all stores have unique customer account numbers (like auto generated based on the preamble of zeros + store id), you can quickly issue scripts to all stores to change to the customer db from Local to Global. Global customers run over standard WS 401s. After the first store has processed their 401, cust info would be updated to HQ. When the second store processes their 401, cust info would be uploaded to HQ, and Global custs form store 1 would be downloaded automatically. And, from here the circle would continue.

One thing to note about working with Global customers is that once the cust has been uploaded to HQ, stores can not edit the customer. I would strongly recommend, if at all possible, that you have every store generate a customer report and verify the data accuracy before scripting changes to Global. If not, you will be in for a lot of edits from the HQ level.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I'm looking at a different scenario: I get prospective customers from our construction division. I would like to add those customers into the database at HQ as global customers as opposed to what we currently do - which is wait for the customer to show up at a store and then have store personnel enter them manually. With the data I get from construction, I can be assured of a more accurate and more complete entry.

Can I run an import of new customers into RMS and designate them as "Global" so they will be visible to all stores?

If you have too many to key, I think you would be looking 3rd party. 3rd party would also be a great option if your potential customers provide info via your website.

Import the customers at the store level and make sure they are set as "Global"
