Ingenico i6550.

Hello,

I recently installed an Ingenico i6550 using RMS 2.0110. They work very well and intallation was ok, however I found 2 issues that I was hoping to get some help on.

  1. POS does not recognize the pinpad when running with standard User rights. I have to give the user Administrator rights. I did install the Ingenico software with the user logged in, but with admin privileges..

  1. The only screen that the pinpad outputs on the customer screen is the Signature screen with no prompts to swipe card, approval, custom logo, ect. Just a blank screen.

Thanks very much in advance.

  1. Try some RegMon tool to see what it read/write to the registry and if the logon user have permission to read/write.
  2. No ideas, never used it.

TJW,

The customer has to press 'Accept' after they sign the pad, then the clerk should see the signature then press ok to continue. Operational wise, there have been no issues other than the above annoyances.. Here is the link that I used to download the software.

I think the customer has to verify the amount being charged before it will complete the processing. That is usually how all signature capture devices work, the customer needs to be able to verify what he is being charged, and then hits enter to accept. Craig

I think I know the solution to this. If there is someway to program the card swipe component of the pinpad to output a (carriage return) at the end of the swipe, it will begin the processing immediately after the swipe without the cashier having to press [Enter] or click [OK]. However, I dont know of a way to do this yet.

Phil,

I have not tried configuring the carriage return in the 6550 but I think you're on the right track. I would be willing to bet that someone at Ingenico's US help desk could assist. The user's guide, available off their web site, may be instructive.

Good luck and let us know if you figure out how to add the return.

Hi TJW,

Yes, the Magtek MSR's are simple and do not require configuration to send the and I agree that it would be great for the i6550 to do the same. Hopefully someone has experience programming in the return out there and will share their knowledge.
