In the POS screen the item scan requires the operator to press enter in order to populate the line. Is there a setting I'm missing? Is there a problem with the database? Please help

You have to program your scanner to add an 'enter' after each scan. Check the manual that came with your scanner, it should explain how to do it, usually by scanning a few programming barcodes. They may refer to it as a suffix.
