Note: Your database server must be running in order for you to con

I am trying to instal RMS onto my desktop at home, just to make sure that I can connect to the db, and that I can use it just fine before I actually uninstal 1.2 at work, and instal 1.3 I can't seem to be able to connect to the db, and I have come accross the following message: Note: Your database server must be running in order for you to connect to it. Although there is nothing telling me how to get the db server to run? My brother and I did this ourselves last time, and I am just wondering if it would be less of a headache to the a RMS specialist in the area to help me instal 1.3 because I can't afford too much downtime. Is it pretty easy to configure everything again, or does everything still point to the same thing once 1.3 is installed?

Vince,

If running XP, you need to restart the machine. Then you should see a vertical silver box icon in the bottom right beside the clock. If there is a green arrow on it, its good to go. If a red arrow, double click on it, click on the Start button and then check the AutoStart box too.

Then go into SO Administrator | File | Connect | put in the password you set when you just installed it | change the database name to RMSSample | OK. Then Database | Create | name it RMSSample | next | click on the magnifying glass at the end of the line | double click on DB Files | double click on rmssample.bck | next | next | then your done. Go for it!

Well, that was easy enough. Jeff, thank you so very much I really appreciate it...Another question I have is if everything is configuerd in RMS 1.2 such as my OPOS connections in regards to pole display, scanners, cash drawers...will this need to be re-done, or with my instal of 1.3 it will pick up where 1.2 left off? Also has anyone been brave enough to start running

1.3 ?

Vince,

That is all saved in the database, so backup first. But should not be an issue.

Any custom receipts, custom reports, po templates, etc. should be backed up too.

Awesome...thanks a lot Jeff, I appreciate all of your help. I'm going to wait a little before I do the actual upgrade, just to hear if there are any bugs etc. Thank You.

I just upgraded 4 lanes yesterday to 1.3 with no problems at all, database an OPOS trasferred and works 100 %... the only thing I noted was that in the RMS SO when I went into database and upgrade, it still said version 1.2 and it said I was up to date, which I thought was weird that it would not let me upgrade to 1.3
