Database login failure

I am running RMS 1.2. My pos was running as normal.

Microsoft automatically updated XP on 6/13/07 and after the reboot, I get an error that the application cannot connect to the database.

When I use Admin to test the connection, I receive the error message,

"OLE DB provider error -2147467259 login failed"

Any idea how to fix this? We're dead in the water without support on this one...

Thanks for your help.

Hi Ron, Make sure the server database name and passwords are correct. Second check the Database services is running SQL server Service. first things you do this. The next thing if the above are not in correct situtation then try to look at your ODBC drivers and I would suggst you to download or may be in RMS cd there are drivers of MDAC microsoft data acesss components it seems that drivers crouptted for OLE db.

But all these first you need to c> I am running RMS 1.2. My pos was running as normal.

The database name and password are correct. I think the database may have encountered an error when the system update automatically ran.

I was looking to do a dbcc checkdb, but I may not have this option with the desktop SQL. Unless there's another suggestion, I'm forced to go back to a backup, which unfortunately, is a few weeks old.

Thanks for your suggestion. If anyone knows if a standalone RMS system can run this database check, DBCC CHECKDB, I'd love to hear about it. I was not able to run this command from the command prompt.
