I noticed that the pictures I create and put in the HQ pictures folder do not download with the items when doing a style 260. It seems like this should happen. The picture NAME goes on the Special tab properly, but the picture itself must be sent to the store manually. I have to get pictures out to dozens of locations - the client stores can't all point to the HQ picture folder due to bandwidth and speed constraints, so they need to be on each SO server. I think this is usually the case... I can understand pointing to a network share for many registers in a store, but how can I easily get the pictures out to each SO location?
PICTURES - Downloading from HQ

I've been experimenting with uploading pics to a website and putting the URL in the picture location field.
For example, if a pic is found at:

've been putting picture.jpg in the picturename field and
formatting link
in the configuration file's "Picture Location". I considered automating the picture downloads to the stores using an FTP client that keeps folders in sync, but this has proved more manageable. It requires an always-on internet connection at the store level, of course, which won't work for every installation.

xcopy P:\*.* "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\Pictures\" /Y
This ensures that all files are up to date. Of course, this download could take a while if you aren't vigilant about paring the files on the web server to just new and changed pictures...
Either way, the process sucks. I am sure someone out there can be a little more creative than me!
