portable scanner and inventory adjustment

Hi, I have the M5000 portable scanner. I'm wondering if anyone has used portable scanners to take inventory and to reconcile records in the database.

I have looked and did not find the option to import or convert data files that were not created by RMS. Thanks for any advice....

Create a New Physical Inventory. There is an "Import" button on the properties page. This can be used to import a CSV text file - the file should have either 2 or 3 columns : ItemLookupCode, count and optionally CountDate. The import button will start a simple wizard that will help you import your inventory data. The help file is pretty good - if you have specific questions about using Physical Inventory import, post back...

You can also import into some Inventory Wizard tasks, but the file formatting is a little more complicated - you have to match the columns displayed in the wizard and each wizard is different...

I have never used the M5000, but every data terminal I've seen ends up creating a CSV file, so the physical inventory toll should work fine.

Hi, Thanks for the tip. I found the import option on the RMS.

I need to create a new file format for the scanner. AML(maker of the scanner) tech support needs to know how the RMS file's data field should be formatted. I'm assuming it is text delimited file. Should the fields be separated by comma or semicolon or just space. And if we need the date, what is the format? For example MM:DD:YY or MM/DD/YY....etc....?
