Quantity entry at POS

I have a client who today uses a platform that allows them to scan an item, press F5 and type in the quantity and it would make the adjustment.

This client does NOT want to have to have his cashiers tab to change the quantity. Is there a way around this or is this a customization? Thanks- Andrea

The "*" key allows you to enter a quantity.

3 * [scan item]

will add the scanned item with a quantity of 3...

Andrea- At the risk of sounding rude, I would have to ask why the customer is coming to you for assistance. Are you for real? The questions you have asked are quite obvious.

Eric, I am not sure I understand your response. Yes, I am for real, and yes, you are rude. I guess if they were quite obvious I would not be using the forum, so please be understanding as I try to learn. I was only trying to see if there was a way in Microsoft RMS to change a quantity without tabbing over and retyping the number. I did find the answer from another reliable source in this forum. In the item look up field in POS, you press the quantity, then asterisk, and then scan the item and it will change the item quantity to that number. That was all I was looking for.

Andrea,

Before you scan the barcode, enter the quantity and hit the * key above the

9 key on the numeric keypad. Then scan the barcode and the qty will be there.

So if they're buying a case for example, enter 12, hit the * which is the multiplication sign, and scan the barcode.

Eric,

Strange post - given that you had the same issue with the quantity entry. From your previous post -

"QUANTITY- Once we figured this out, everything was really perfect. If you hit X * before scanning an item, it automatically enters the X as the quantity. (Ex. 3 * 123456 will automatically enter 3 of item 123456... 5*

123456 will automatically enter 5 in the item quantity)"

Rick- I never asked the question online... and I am not an I/T Professional with clients. Why pay someone upwards of $100 an hour, if they are just going to "other professionals" to get the answer for free????

OK I see what you're thinking.

Every reseller is, at some point, learning a new product to market. They make allowances for their learning curve when billing clients. And the question Andrea asked probably isn't one that she, or most resellers, would charge for answering.

She should probably be asking in the private forums, though, where participants understand the support process. I don't know why a few resellers ask questions here and we don't see them in the partner forums.

My son asked me a few years ago to explain what I do, and part of my answer was that I support people who can't read manuals - and there's lots of business.

THAT'S HILARIOUS AND SO TRUE.

This is in the manual. Please read it before posting to keep from appearing illiterate. :)

For the "old timers", It sorta gets aggravating to see questions like this being asked over and over for years. This forum needs sticky threads for questions like this. I can remember me asking what the user name and password was the first time I used RMS....NO question is stupid, except the one you don't ask and you assume and incorrect answer for. Ask on....I will try to curb my passions.
