POS 2009 "display Insufficient Quantity Message"

I unchecked this option in workflow, and it still shows me the message of options for insufficient items. We would like to have a misc item for each dept, which we can still tender out the customer if the item isn't in the database. for example, the grocery department, would have a groc item which would be used to ring up a item which hasn't been put in the system yet. So we just want to press the groc key on taskpad and input the price without the insufficient message.

This may just be a work around, but this is what we do in RMS. Set up an Item called Misc. Sale, as a non-inventory item. On the options tab there is a check box for "Must enter price at POS" check this on. When you use this item for the item, you will always have to enter the amount at the time of check out. I got this info here, as we have the same situation in our Book Store. Hope thet works in POS 2009, we hopoe to be changing to it soon! --

Thanks! David D. L.S.B.

Maulik,

I agree with David. Using a non-inventory item is the best way to handle Misc. Items.

As for the Insufficient Quantity dialog still appearing even when you uncheck the option:

a) Try restarting the application. A lot of the configuration options require a restart. b) Check to see if Back Orders are enabled. If this is turned on, you'll also get the out of stock options.

hey jeff,

I did restart the app, and that didn't work. I wasn't able to find any option to turn off back order option. So if anyone knows about POS 2009 options, please let me know. I am wondering if anyone can give this setup a chance and see if they get the same results. I think this bug, where you can't stop the message from poping up.

Maulik,

The Back Orders setting is found in the Manager View on the Settings -> Store Settings -> Options dialog. On the left side select Orders. Towards the bottom you'll see a check box to enable Back Orders. If you don't want the out of stock dialog and you don't need Back Orders, uncheck this option.
