I know that RMS 2.0 has some issues with XP SP3. Try uninstalling SP3 on the machines running RMS and see if it resolves the issue.
Hi Max. There are incompatibilities between RMS 2.0 SP 2 and XP SP 3. Microsoft has released a hotfix for this issue that so far seems to be working. The hotfix can be found/downloaded at

I hope this helps.
Msadce.dll 2.81.3002.0 331,776 01-May-2008 14:33
This is the file version in the hotfix article. This already appears to be in place prior to applying this hotfix. We checked one store adn foudn teh same version before and after hot fix.

Hi
I found that this happened to us with some of the anti-virus updates, namely sophos and in particular Dr. Watson.
I had to remove the update and completely re-install the whole program from scratch, including the HQ Client before I could resolve it.
What hotfix version are you on . Go to Help About and you should see it here?
We're seeing the same thing. This just started happening a few days ago, many months after we installed XP SP3. We also installed the suggested hotfix back in Nov 2008.
We have HQClient setup to start when the computer is rebooted and this is when it fails to start. We generally can start it manually after Windows has booted, but not always.
Any other suggestions?
thanks, randy
Thanks for the reply--sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
