serialized items and quantity key

We upgraded to RMS from Quicksell 2000. We are selling all serialized items, mostly monthly bus passes. In Quicksell we used to be able to enter a quantity of passes at one time, for instance, passes 150-58, and the database would accept that. So far we have not figured out a way to use any kind of a quantity key in RMS. This is a critical capability for us due to orders of up to 200 passes at one time from one custumer. Any suggestions??

OK,

I am not sure which S/N to start with.

What i need to happen is: a customer orders 10 passes. The cashier simply puts > Open the Item Properties page for a Serialized Item.

ilibhart,

I think that Glenn was unclear about your question. You want to sell multiple items and he was talking about receiving the serial numbered items.

Bad news, RMS on allows one serial number per line.

Sorry, never used QS2K, so I don't know its capabilities. Maybe someone has an add-on that's reasonable in price.

Open the Item Properties page for a Serialized Item. Go to the Serial Tab Click the Add button In the section at the bottom, Enter the number of S/N you want to create Enter the Starting Number Check the AutoGenerate Numbers CheckBox Click OK

Ian,

There is a full ticketing system that integrates seamlessly into RMS that may be of interest to you. When you process a sale it prints tickets for the sale just completed on Boca ticket printers. It is a very reasonable price.

Ian,

We are working with another transportation company that is looking for just the functionality that you are looking for. You are wanting to create a range of serial numbers at the point of the sale that match up with the passes/tickets. I'd have to check if the ticket module lets you stop there. The other guys are having the pass/ticket printing right from RMS.

Ian,

This is why we usually suggest a knowledgeable RMS Certified partner looking over things to make sure everything will work when you upgrade! ;-)

The complete ticketing module is less than $1000. This will 100% automatically create serial numbers for passes, print the passes/tickets at the end of the sale and more. If you just want the part that makes serial numbers I would need to look to make sure you can stop at that point.

Your welcome to call me.

Ian,

In answer to your question that is what I'm brainstorming. I'd have to check if stopping at the point you type in serial number would work with this module.

At this point we are in the evaluation process for this company. They have multiple sites and are using Store Operations Headquarters, offline computers and more so it is a little more complex than your situation. I would be glad to give you a report when the have implemented. (or even let you talk to them)

Also, we can go over module with you to show you how it works.

Let me ask this:

If i create a new standard item, is there a way to make notes > We upgraded to RMS from Quicksell 2000. We are selling all serialized items,

Ian,

I sent you a report to your email address.

copy of message

"Press CTRL+F10 on a line item. Now you can type in some comment.

Here is a report that will list the comment detail on the sales report."

Ian,

Just a quick look I don't see any. But we can customize reports and this is a service we provide our clients.

In RR Misc Utility we created a special button to sell serial numbers starting from nnnn to nnnn. And we also have a modified xml repirt that shows this on one line. This was done for a mobile phone group that sells pre-paid vouchers with sequential serial numbers [up to 1000 of them at a time]. The utility is bundled with other ones in the RR Misc Utility.
