Shrink wrapped software?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me whats contained 'in the box' when we recieve Store Ops. We will be receiving all the hardware equipment (POS, scanner, printer and till) and the supplier is also sending the software.

I'm not too sure what to expect in the delivery.

Can I expect the software arriving shrink wrapped with CDs and manuals. My previous experience with Microsoft software (Exchange, Windows etc) is that it comes in a boring brown cardboard box with afew cd and a paper licence thrown in. It then takes an expensive IT Pro to install.

My point is - is single lane Store Ops just like buying an off the shelf package from say PC World with simple install wizards etc? Or is it a complicated piece of software that requires an RMS accredited techie to install on the POS?

I hope its the former....

It comes shrinkwrapped with a CD, A Getting Started Guide and a User Guide.

The software is easy to install and get working. Where you might need help from an IT pro is setting up your POS hardware to work with RMS (hopefully you bought industry standard peripherals that support OPOS) , configuring credit card integration and importing data into the RMS database.

Anyone that knows there way around a PC can figure out how to install RMS; it is one of the most simplistic apps I have worked with. The first time I installed I read the manuals and walked right through it. Getting peripherals to work can be more of a challenge but people on the board can answer your questions.

With that being said, if your time is worth money, then hiring an RMS partner will pay for itself. They can typically get everything going in a few hours where it may take you days.
