Two open batches POS 2009

Greetings,

I'm having a problem with POS 2009 having two open batches for one register.

Our general procedure is to blind close each shift, and then enter closing amounts after hours, perform Z report for each shift and then a general ZZ report for each day. Last night, however, the ZZ report didn't just tally all the info from the previous ZZ report, it listed all the sales from the store beginning. In the process another batch was opened for a total of two open batches when there is only one register and one person per shift.

So, I'm wondering how I can resolve it so that there is only one open batch at a time. Is there some SQL query I can run to close this batch without reopening a new one in its place? Honestly nothing is effected by this, it's just an annoyance.

Thanks for any help.

Have you installed service pack 1 for POS 2009?

What happens if you only run a Z report will it not close the batches?

Where do you see two batches that are open?

Hi Alorelith,

I'm not sure that I'll provide you the right answer, but you can close a batch directly in the RMS database by using the MS SQL Studio Manager. But if it's a recurring event, it isn't a good solution for you. Anyway, if you want to do it this way:

ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE EDITING THE DATABASE

Open MS SQL Studio Management Express (free downloadable from microsoft.com) and select the database of RMS you are using right now in the database tree

Expand the database by pressing (+) and expand the tables by pressing (+)

Rightclick dbo.Batch, select "open table"

Browse to the batch number you want to close

Change the number in "status" column to "9"

Press the red exclamation mark and your batch should be closed.

Regards, Justin
