Two POS, one drawer

Nov 26, 2006 3 Replies

Let's say I want to pop a serial cash drawer from two seperate RMS POS stations that are connected by network. Can anyone come up with a scheme to make this work?

I don't think you can do it with a Serial Drawer. If you use a drawer connected to a Receipt Printer, you can:

1) Use Windows Drivers for the Printer rather than OPOS 2) Share the printer in Windows Printers and Faxes 3) use the shared printer from the second register.

If you do this, your Z-reports are never going to match your drawer...

Wouldn't my combined Z-Reports match the drawer?

In a perfect world, yes. How often do you close out and balance to the penny? What are you going to enter for opening and closing amounts? When you're short, how will you know which register is missing money? The Z report is all about accounting for the cash in the drawer. If you combine the funds from 2 registers, you can no longer do that. If you aren't worried about the cash, then the Z-report is just a waste of paper - you still need to run it to close your batches though.
